The event was attended by 550 participants from 122 companies including 72 Russian and 50 foreign companies based in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America and Uzbekistan.
As usual, in 2009 the Meetings were held in a working atmosphere. The plenary meeting scheduled for the first half of November 24 was followed by a massive programme of business negotiations and presentation of new reinsurance products to a wide audience of Russian and foreign reinsurers.
The plenary meeting heard the report "Ways to Consolidate the Russian Reinsurance Community under Modern Conditions" given by Alexander Artamonov, General Director of Moscow Re, and forecasts for a renewal of markets in Central and Eastern Europe in 2010, made by Alexandra Bachkovska-Assadi from Aon Benfield Praha a.s. Dmitry Garmash, General Director of Unity Re, gave the report "Reinsurance Market: First Anniversary of the World Financial Crisis" and Anastasia Litvinova, reinsurance analysis group director in Fitch Ratings, spoke on the use of rating methods in crisis.
In the evening of November 24, participants in the Meetings were invited to a traditional Beaujolais Nouveau dinner organised by the Moscow office of SCOR.
Expecting them on November 25 was an evening programme worked out by Moscow Reinsurance Company, a VIP partner of the event.
From 2002 and through the present day the November Business Meetings of Reinsurers have been the most comfortable and popular place to hold the maximum number of meetings and negotiations with partners from Russian and foreign insurance, reinsurance and broker companies during a short period of time.
Taking part in the Moscow November Meetings is efficient indeed, which the reinsurance market players themselves do acknowledge. Not infrequently, such negotiations become a follow-up of international meetings of reinsurers in Monte Carlo and Baden-Baden.
