November Business Meetings of Reinsurers Held on 20-22 November 2006 in Moscow, President Hotel

This time the November Meetings' attendance consisted of 192 participants representing 109 companies plus guests invited by them, experts and journalists - in all, more than 350 people from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Byelorussia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. The participants from India, Uzbekistan and the United States attended the Meetings for the first time. Of the Russian companies, 61 represented Moscow and another 11 ones - other Russian regions.

The Meetings' format remained the same as before. A short plenary session was opened by the Organizing Committee Chairman, Head of Department of Incoming Obligatory Reinsurance of Ingosstrakh Igor V. Alexeev. The participants discussed the problems of management of the reinsurance business, results of the operations of insurance companies and their mid-term strategy, and competition on the reinsurance market. They gave a very special attention to several vital issues, such as current practice of reinsurance against the risk of terrorism, the European Fifth Motor Insurance Directive, and the situation on the reinsurance market of Poland.

The representatives of the participating companies made presentations on their reinsurance programs, and thereafter the participants proceeded to bilateral negotiations.

On the 20th of November, the participants of the November Business Meetings of Reinsurers were invited to the Beaujolais Nouveau Festival organized by the Moscow Representative Office of SCOR. This is a traditional harvest festival coinciding with the time of summing up the year results right before the renewal of reinsurance agreements. As agreed by the Moscow Representative Office of SCOR and the November Meetings' organizers, Beaujolais Nouveau has come to be a traditional cocktail reception - an event opening the November Business Meetings of Reinsurers.
